The Manipur high court modified an order to exclude the Meitei community from the Scheduled Tribes list, leading to violence. The order affected the rights of 34 recognized tribes. Meiteis constitute 53% of the population and live in the Imphal Valley, while Nagas and other tribes reside in the hill districts.
