The Indian government has included 260 signs of financial terms in the Indian Sign Language (ISL) to help deaf and hearing impaired individuals understand and communicate about topics like bonds, equities, and financial markets. The ISL dictionary currently has 10,000 terms and aims to reach 30,000 terms in the future. The inclusion of financial terms in ISL is expected to benefit deaf individuals working in the financial and banking sectors and improve their employment prospects. The project was developed in collaboration with Societe Generale and v-shesh, with input from deaf individuals and financial experts. Additionally, an online self-learning course in ISL was launched to help bridge the communication gap between the hearing impaired and those who can hear.
