As of now, the Congress-JD(S) combine has 116 members (excluding the speaker) in the 224-member house and the BJP has 104 MLAs. Two independents and a lone BSP MLA are with the ruling coalition though there are fissures in their relationship, especially after the exit of independent MLA R Shankar and BSP MLA N Mahesh from the cabinet. This takes the coalition’s number to 119.
