The recent judgment of Hyderabad High Court on superannuation has given a breather to hereditary priests under the management of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). Though HC gave the order on the petition by two hereditary priests of Tiruchanur temple, managed by TTD, hereditary priests of Tirumala argue that it is applicable to them too. The priests had moved HC challenging TTD’s decision to retire hereditary priests on completion of 65 years. They argue that since their post is hereditary, there is no retirement for them.
