The 72-year-old Kamal Nath's political experience trumped Jyotiraditya Scindia who was in a neck-to-neck competition for the top post. Nath will serve his first term as the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh. He has served nine terms as Lok Sabha MP from Chhindwara. At 72-year-old, Nath is the senior-most member in the 16th Lok Sabha.
